Attorney Edwin Khebila Fogam is more than a seasoned legal professional—he is a living testament to the immigrant experience and the enduring power of resilience, faith, and determination.
Born in Cameroon, West Africa, Attorney Fogam grew up in humble beginnings, shaped by the discipline of a Catholic boarding school (Sasse College) and the rugged demands of village and farm life in Bali. Despite facing significant family hardship rooted in a polygamous upbringing, he defied the odds and earned his first law degree from the University of Yaoundé in 1986. His early journey included a transformative international exchange program in Canada, teaching and serving pro bono as a school principal in a remote Cameroonian village, and even working as a fisherman alongside villagers in Ngeme—a testament to his humility, work ethic, and connection to everyday people.
With over two decades of experience practicing immigration law in the United States, Attorney Fogam brings an extraordinary blend of international legal education, cross-cultural fluency, and real-life immigrant struggles to his practice. He has lived through the uncertainty, sacrifice, and hope that define the immigrant journey—and he channels that experience into passionate, empathetic, and highly effective legal advocacy for his clients.
Attorney Fogam is admitted to practice in Maryland, New York, the U.S. District and Federal Courts, and the United States Supreme Court. He is fluent in English, French, Pidgin, and Mungaka and is deeply familiar with French Civil Law and English Common Law traditions. He is a proud member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Maryland Association for Justice, and several local and national bar associations.
His peers and the legal community have recognized his commitment to excellence and client care. In 2015, the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys named him one of the “10 Best Attorneys” for client satisfaction. In 2002, the ABI awarded him the “Outstanding Professional in Law” award, followed by the prestigious “Cicero Award of Excellence” in 2011.
Before founding the Law Offices of Fogam and Associates, LLC, Attorney Fogam worked with prominent human rights organizations in Washington, DC, including the International Human Rights Law Group and the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights.
